www.texasequineva.com • 20 Dr. Alvarez earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Texas A&M University in 2017 and completed an internship at Texas Equine Hospital in 2018 and later returned to the practice. While at Texas A&M he received the Aggie Spirit Award in recognition of outstanding courage and determination in the face of adversity. He was also the recipient of the Rodeo Austin Scholarship and Externship, assisting veterinarians in the treatment of rodeo horses, rough stock, and show animals. Dr. Alvarez, originally from Baytown, Texas, moved to College Station in 2007, and worked as a Large Animal Surgery Technician at Texas A&M University while completing his undergraduate degree. Raised in the heart of Louisiana, Dr. Lauren Underwood received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Louisiana State University in 2018 and completed an internship at Texas Equine Hospital in 2019, also joining the practice after. She is an active member of AAEP and SFT (Society for Theriogenology). All aspects of equine medicine interest Lauren, but she has specific enthusiasm for neonatal care and theriogenology. There are currently four interns for the 2019–2020 program, including Dr. Sierra Chanutin, Dr. Emily Hughes, Dr. Sara Manceaux, and Dr. Clara Seiwert. Texas Equine Hospital, 13688 S.
