www.texasequineva.com • 24 PLATINUM PRACTICE TULAROSA EQUINE CLINIC Spotlight Tularosa Equine Clinic is located in Tularosa, New Mexico, and was established in 2006. It is owned and operated by Dr. Leah Hamilton and her husband, Mike Hamilton. The clinic specializes in general equine medicine, reproduction, lameness, internal medicine, and offers a full surgical suite for elective surgeries. The clinic complex includes over 6,000 square feet including a six-stall heated and air conditioned hospital barn with remote monitoring, six outdoor covered pens, and a covered stallion collection area. It also has a federally accredited Coggins lab. Dr. Hamilton graduated from Texas A&M Veterinary School in 1992 and had a solo practice for ten years prior to joining the Rockwall Equine Center in 2002, specializing in general and reproductive medicine before moving to Tularosa. Megan Petty, DVM, is an associate equine veterinarian at Tularosa Equine Clinic and a 2013 graduate of Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. Dr. Petty is a general equine practitioner with a special interest in reproduction, internal medicine, and race horses. She is passionate about educating horse owners and spending time with her husband Bryan, and their dogs Maverick and Ray, on their breeding farm Creekside Farm near Bent, New Mexico. Tularosa, New Mexico Leah Hamilton, DVM Megan Petty, DVM Mike Hamilton Billie Jean Brown Mike Hamilton is co-owner of Tularosa Equine Clinc, LLC, Mike has been instrumental in the construction and development of the practice. He has been in a technical position since 1993 and managed surgical anesthesia for a referral hospital for three years. Mike is a happy father to two children, Chris (age eleven) and Katie (age nine). He enjoys keeping laying hens and raising livestock. Bille Jean Brown has been an integral part of Tularosa Equine Clinic for the past ten years. She and her husband, David, moved here from Washington state to enjoy our much milder winter climate. They have been involved with horses and racing for many, many years both as owners and in David's case, as a jockey. They have two cats, a dog, and two horses.
