29 | TECHNICIAN LECTURES FRIDAY Location: Post Oak CEU: 1 TECH LECTURE 3: NEONATAL CARE / "DUMMY FOALS" (HIE) SPEAKER: Piper Norton, DVM, DACVIM In this lecture, we will cover aspects of foal care from birth to weaning: tips for examining, sedating, restraining, and treating foals for various conditions. 9:00AM—9:50AM TECH LECTURE 2: DYSTOCIA AND REPRODUCTIVE EMERGENCIES – WHAT I NEED TO KNOW SPEAKER: Kevin Claunch, DVM, DACVS This lecture will focus on reproductive emergencies in the mare including dystocia, peripartum, and post- partum emergencies. We will cover emergency evaluation, managing IV catheters, placing NG tube (briefly), and monitoring fluid balance.
