Following the most successful fundraising year since its inception, Texas Equine Foundation continued to fulfill our mission of providing a legacy of equine welfare, crisis relief and outreach. The primary goal for the last year has been to invest significantly in the future of equine veterinary medicine. By partnering with organizations such as Lonestar Outreach To Place Ex-Racers (LOPE), not only have we helped equine welfare, but also invested in their elementary equine learning programs. These learning programs expose elementary aged students in the Austin area to equines and their care, as well as integrate older students as interns who help lead the programs. We also partnered with area racetracks, spearheaded by Ruidoso Downs, to match our donation to LOPE, garnering more support for this worthy program. We continued this investment by partnering with Texas AgriLife's Veterinary Science Certificate Program (VSCP) for junior high and high school aged students by offering 3 equine-only, one day programs at Brazos Valley Equine Hospital – Salado, Brock Veterinary Clinic, and Lone Star Equine Sports Medicine. These programs had 15- 30 students at each location and had basic veterinary skills taught by the staff at each location. This increases our exposure to younger students in equine veterinary medicine before they begin making decisions about their university tracks. We are excited to grow this partnership in the fall. Our investment in equine veterinary medicine students continues to grow. Under the direction of Dr. Brittany Campbell, our Student Outreach Director, we have established mentoring/fellowship gatherings at Texas A&M, Texas A&M – VERO, Texas Tech, and Oklahoma State. These gatherings pair existing practitioners with students to give a chance for face-to-face, casual interaction and mentorship as these students begin to carve their career paths. We also welcomed a record 72 students to join us at the 2023 TEVA Symposium. This is an all-expense paid trip for these students as we want them to come learn, help, make connections and enjoy the comradery of their future colleagues. In addition to these exciting new investments, we have continued to grant our Equine Experience scholarships to 18 students from Texas A&M, Texas Tech, Oklahoma State 60 | TEXAS EQUINE FOUNDATION
