A Message from the Point
PRESIDENT
PIPER NORTON
DVM, DACVIM
PAGE 7 | FROM THE POINT
I want to send my appreciation to the members of the Texas Equine
Veterinary Association for allowing me to serve as your President this last
year. I am humbled and proud of the accomplishments we have achieved
together. I'm confident that we are on a great path forward and I know that
Dr. Michelle Bessire will continue this trend. She, along with our executive
director, Sara Green, and assistant executive director, Blaine Fisher, will do
an exceptional job.
I feel a part of this community having served in roles ranging from TEVA
Board of Directors, Editor of the Remuda, and successive roles from
Treasurer to President. During this time, I have gotten to know many of you
on a personal level and this I will cherish the most. This has been a home
to me professionally, a community that provides assistance to each other
so that we can all thrive. I stand on the shoulders of my mentors who have
given me wisdom, guidance, and skills to practice as an equine practitioner
and to serve as a leader. Thank you all for the mentorship that you have
provided me.
Lastly, a reminder that we are the collective efforts of individuals willing to give back to this
community whether formally or informally. I challenge the next generation of veterinarians
to rise to the occasion by volunteering and helping our community continue to support each
other as those before you have done. By doing so, we can help others to find a passion for
equine veterinary medicine so that our profession can continue to thrive.
With warm regards,
Pip Norton, DVM, DACVIM
Texas Equine Veterinary Association, President
