www.teva-online.org • Page 21 The Texas Veterinary Medical Association (TVMA) is in the final stages of developing TexVetPets.org, an animal health information website for the public. The website was scheduled for a mid- June 2014 launch but is still greatly in need of articles on topics relating to equine health and ownership. In order to offer the most comprehensive animal health information on the web, we would appreciate the opportunity to include the expertise of Texas's equine experts—Texas Equine Veterinary Association members. In addition to offering articles written by veterinary professionals, each article published on TexVetPets.org will be reviewed by two Texas veterinarians, ensuring that the information rises above the often-unreliable pet health content found online. We encourage TEVA members to become TexVetPets.org contributors by either writing or reviewing articles for the website. Contributors are not required to write or review a minimum number of articles; you write or review at your own pace, as your schedule allows. By contributing to TexVetPets.org, you will help educate the public by offering reliable information and also demonstrating the veterinary profession's commitment to equine health and responsible ownership. The website provides you with a platform t e X V e t p e t S . o r g wIll BRINg r e l i a b l e a n i m a l h e a l t h i n f o r m a t i o n TO THE PuBlIC dawN NOUFER TVMa COMMUNICaTIONS aSSOCIaTE to reach a wide audience, as well as to emphasize your reputation as an equine health expert online. Being a TexVetPets.org author or reviewer enhances your online visibility as well as that of your practice. Both writers and reviewers will have a biography published on TexVetPets.org that includes your clinic name and a link to its website, making your participation a marketing tool to direct web traffic to your clinic's website. In addition, TexVetPets.org can be utilized in your day-to-day practice as a supplemental tool for educating your clients. As a contributor, you can direct clients to the work that you've written or reviewed. We also encourage you to direct your clients to the website for additional information on topics you may not have time to cover extensively during appointments. TexVetPets.org will equip veterinarians with the tools to strengthen the voice of the profession online by continuing to educate the animal-owning public beyond the walls of the veterinary clinic. Becoming a TexVetPets.org contributor or reviewer is good for the public, animals in Texas and the profession. If you are interested in writing or reviewing articles, submitting photos, getting involved or if you have any questions, please contact TVMA Communications Associate Dawn Noufer at dnoufer@tvma.org or 512/452-4224.
